Beatrix Ong was born in London and pursued her education in London, Hong Kong and New York. On her return from New York she finalised her studies at the renowned Cordwainers College, London. Her experience ranges from interning at the Fashion Department of US magazine Harper’s Bazaar to designing for Jimmy Choo — an affirmation of her solid pedigree in fashion. Wanting to push the boundaries of beautiful shoemaking was always at the heart of Ong’s decision to go solo. Another reason was the challenge of making shoes that were comfortable enough for women to wear during the day, yet special enough for them to carry on wearing in the evening. With intense ambition, September 2002 saw Beatrix Ong realise her dreams and her first collection was launched at London Fashion Week. It immediately caught the imagination of international press and buyers alike.
